TikTok Shop referral fee in 2026
The TikTok Shop referral fee is 6% of each order for most US categories (5% for selected jewelry and pre-owned items). It's TikTok's single platform fee: it already covers payment processing, so there's no separate transaction fee on top.
What counts toward it: what the buyer pays plus any discount TikTok funds. Discounts you fund yourself lower the fee; sales tax is excluded.
Returns: when an order is refunded, TikTok gives the referral fee back minus a refund administration fee of 20% of that fee, capped at $5 per SKU. On a $25 item that's $0.30.
New sellers: if your first sale comes within 60 days of finishing onboarding, you pay 3% for your first 30 days.
Is it 8% now? Some seller publications reported a rise to 8% on most non-food categories from 4 August 2026, but TikTok's public Seller University page still listed 6% when we last checked. Pick the 8% option above to see what it would do to your margin, and check the rate on your own settlement report.
What price should you charge on TikTok Shop?
Use the calculator as a TikTok Shop price calculator: enter your product cost, shipping and creator commission, then read two prices off the results.
Break-even price is the lowest price where an order stops losing money. Price for your target margin is the lowest price that keeps the profit margin you set — 20% by default. Percentage costs — TikTok's fees, creator commission and ad spend — grow with the price, so only part of any price increase reaches your profit.
In the example below, with creators driving 60% of orders at 15% commission, the product breaks even at $15.18 and needs to sell for $20.18 to keep a 20% margin — so the $25.00 example price leaves room to spare.

Some seller publications reported that the standard US referral fee rose from 6% to 8% on most non-food categories effective 4 August 2026. TikTok's public Seller University page still lists 6%, so this calculator defaults to 6%. Pick the 8% option to see the impact, and trust the rate shown in your own Seller Center and settlement reports.
How the calculation works
TikTok's referral fee is a percentage of the order value. Everything else — creator commission, fulfilment, ads and returns — depends on how you sell, so the calculator stacks them into one profit figure per order.
Break-even ROAS is the selling price divided by the profit per order before ad spend. Below that ROAS, each ad-driven order loses money.
Worked example: a $25.00 product
Say you sell at $25.00 with a product cost of $8.00, $4.50 shipping per order, a 5% return rate and $3.00 lost per return. TikTok's fees (6% referral fee) are only part of the cost stack:
| Scenario | TikTok fees | Profit / order | Margin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Organic only | $1.44 | $10.06 | 40.2% |
| 60% of orders via creators at 15% | $1.44 | $7.92 | 31.7% |
| Creators + ads at 4× ROAS | $1.44 | $1.67 | 6.7% |
Creator commission cuts profit from $10.06 to $7.92 per order. With creators in the mix, ads need at least 3.16× ROAS just to break even — at 4× this product still makes money.
TikTok Shop US fee questions
How much does TikTok Shop take per sale in the US?
The standard US referral fee is 6% of the order value for most categories (5% for selected jewelry and pre-owned items). It already includes payment processing, so there is no separate transaction fee. Creator commissions, fulfillment and ads are extra and set by you.
How is the TikTok Shop referral fee calculated?
Referral fee = referral rate × (customer payment + platform discount − tax). Discounts you fund yourself reduce the fee base; discounts TikTok funds do not.
Does TikTok refund the referral fee when a customer returns an item?
Yes, but it keeps a refund administration fee of 20% of the original referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU. On a $25 item at 6% that is $0.30 per return.
Is there a monthly fee to sell on TikTok Shop US?
No. There is no monthly subscription or listing fee; you pay the referral fee on completed orders plus any fulfillment, creator and ad costs you choose.
Is the TikTok Shop fee now 8%?
Several seller publications reported an increase to 8% on most non-food categories from 4 August 2026, but TikTok's public fee page still showed 6% when we last checked. Use the rate in your Seller Center; this calculator lets you switch between both.
What ROAS do I need for TikTok Shop ads to be profitable?
Your break-even ROAS is the selling price divided by the profit per order before ad spend. The calculator shows it live — if your GMV Max campaigns run below that number, every ad-driven order loses money.
