1. First invite
Your first message to a creator whose content fits your product.
Hi [creator]! I'm [name] from [brand]. I loved how you show real results in your videos — it's exactly how we want [product] talked about.
We'd love to have you as an affiliate: [commission] commission on every sale, plus a free sample so you can try it first.
Want me to send the invite in TikTok Shop?
2. Free sample offer
When a creator shows interest, or as a lighter first touch than a full invite.
Hi [creator], quick one — could we send you a free [product] to try, no strings attached?
If you like it and want to post, you'd earn [commission] on every sale through your link. If not, no problem at all.
Just accept the sample request in TikTok Shop and we'll ship it out. — [name], [brand]
3. Follow-up (no reply)
Three to five days after your first message with no response.
Hi [creator], just floating this back up in case it got buried — we'd still love to send you [product] and set you up at [commission] commission.
Happy to answer any questions. — [name]
4. Sample delivered — content ideas
About a week after the sample arrives, before they've posted.
Hi [creator], hope [product] arrived safely! A few angles that have worked well for other creators:
• Before/after or first impressions
• How it fits into your routine
• An honest "is it worth it?" take
No script needed — you know your audience best. Let me know if you need anything. — [name], [brand]
5. Top performer — higher commission
For creators whose sales are profitable and growing. Find them with the creator ROI calculator.
Hi [creator], your videos for [product] have been some of our best performers — thank you!
We'd like to raise your commission from [commission] to [bonus_rate] and send a few more samples for new content. I'll update your collaboration in TikTok Shop now.
Anything else that would help you keep posting? — [name], [brand]
6. Re-engage a quiet creator
For creators who sold well before but haven't posted in a while.
Hi [creator], we miss seeing [product] on your page! Your earlier videos did really well for us.
If you're up for another round, we can send a fresh sample and keep you at [commission] commission. No pressure — just let me know. — [name], [brand]
What gets creators to say yes
Lead with why them. Mention a specific video or the kind of content they make. Creators get many generic invites; a single specific line is what separates yours.
Put the numbers up front. Commission rate, sample offer and any bonus belong in the first message, not the third.
Make posting easy. After the sample lands, send two or three hooks or angles they can use, not a script. Creators know their audience better than you do.
Follow the money afterwards. Once videos are live, find out which creators actually earn you profit — not just GMV — and put your samples and higher rates behind them. The creator ROI calculator ranks them for you.
Through the affiliate tools in Seller Center — target collaboration invitations and messages — or by DM and email if the creator lists one. These templates work in any of them; keep the first message short.
Should I offer free samples to TikTok Shop creators?
For most products, yes — creators rarely promote what they haven't tried. Offer samples to creators whose audience fits, and track which samples turn into sales so you can stop sending to the rest.
How long should I wait before following up?
Three to five days is reasonable for a first follow-up. After a sample is delivered, check in about a week later with a few content ideas rather than a hard deadline.
When should I raise a creator's commission?
When their sales are profitable and growing. Rewarding the creators who already convert is usually a better use of budget than raising rates for everyone.
